My Footnotes

Once in while things happen that I want to share with all of you on my site.

Very sad to hear of, yet another, one of my heroes down for the count:

“Keith Jarrett Confronts a Future Without the Piano.  The pathbreaking musician reveals the health issues that make it unlikely he will ever again perform in public.”  (See Below for full Article)

One such event was the passing of one of my favorite of all time bassists, Gary Peacock, who died peacefully Friday, Sept. 4, at his home in upstate New York at the age of 85.   Please check out the NPR Article about Gary and his “Story”.  It explains his philosophy of striving to “get out of the way of myself,”  Peacock insisted that he was a reluctant composer, in the same way that he was a reluctant soloist.   Check out the article and the posts within;  very interesting and explains a great deal about this fabulous bassist.  I will miss his playing, thank goodness for the huge number of recordings.
